About the Instructor

Marilyn Gold-Mandell is an artist and designer who believes creativity feeds the soul. Her work spans multiple media, including printmaking, fiber arts, collage, drawing, and ceramics, often combining techniques. She practices art journaling daily and creates mixed media tangle drawings, emphasizing that the creative process can be more fulfilling than the finished piece.

Quilting and fiber arts are particular passions. Her work consistently explores color, texture, and pattern, finding satisfaction in handcrafted creation. Hand sewing and Sashiko have become part of her mindful art practice.

Her watercolor work, exhibited nationally and featured in private collections, showcases her love of the medium's fluidity and transparency. She finds joy in manipulating paint on paper, focusing on nature's beauty, and creating sacred spaces.

Professionally, Marilyn spent over 25 years as a stylist and colorist in the home textile industry. Starting as a home furnishing fabric designer, she supervised fabric printing in East Coast mills before moving into bedding design. Her bedding ensembles were sold in major retailers including Target, Walmart, and Kmart.

A Rhode Island School of Design graduate with a BFA in textile design, she also studied Figure Drawing at New York's Art Students League. She regularly participates in workshops to expand her techniques and engage with fellow artists. Currently, she teaches adult art classes at the Cumberland School Adult Education Center in Great Neck, finding fulfillment in sharing her knowledge with others.
